A Review Of Riverview Campground And Livery On The Rifle River

Riverview Campground and LiveryNeighborhood: Rifle River BanksSterling, MI48659United States of America

Recently I and a group of 15 others stayed the weekend in Sterling, MI at a campground called Riverview Campground and Livery. We all pitched tents there. You can also bring campers to this campground both for the weekend and/or the season. The rates were reasonable for staying there, only $16.00 per person. That was for a site with water and electricity. If you wanted a sight without, it was only $14.00 a person. There is also a 2 night minimum stay per person as well. Canoe rental was $19.00 a person for the short trip and $24.00 a person for the long trip. Riverview Campground and Livery has 3 restroom/shower buildings throughout the campground. There are unisex bathrooms as well as designated men's and women's. The showers are unisex and are free. The lights in the shower rooms are motion detected so when I took a shower, every few minutes I had to move closer to the motion detector to make the lights turn back on. To use the shower, you push a button, and the water comes out of the shower head. You cannot regulate the water temperature. Also, the button is on a timer of sorts, so you have to keep pushing it in every minute to or two for the water flow to continue. The restroom/shower buildings were cleaned regularly and smelled decent. The same cannot be said for the outhouses located throughout the campground. Also they were relatively clean, the smell was atrocious. Holding your breath in there, it was still horrible. For your journey down the Rifle River at Riverview Campground and Livery, they offer tubes, kayaks and canoes. The canoes are made of a plastic composite material which makes for a much nicer ride then the aluminum ones. They don't leak at the seams as there are no seams. Also, they glide over the huge rocks in the river much better too, hence less tipping over! The Riverview Campground also has a nice little store located on the premises which carries food, beverages, ice, and any other necessities you may have failed to pack. They are reasonably priced as well. Riverview Campground also has a bottle/can returnable machine located in the back of the store where you can cash you receipt in at the store for cash. The staff is friendly and helpful throughout the campground as well. I would return to this campground again for another weekend getaway. You are located right on the Rifle River. They drop you off for your voyage down the river and you end it right back at the campground. The prices are reasonable and getting there was easy as well.
