Web Video Is The Future And The Future Is Now

Unless you are brand spanking new to the Internet, you have obviously heard of YouTube.

Chances are, you or someone in your family has watched one of the 100 Million videos people viewed just today!

Think about that number for a minute. On YouTube alone, there will be over one hundred million videos watched today. That is over four hundred thousand videos an hour.

In 2006, http://Hitwise.com gave the following statistics on YouTube users.

Hitwise reported that 53.82% were male; 50.19% of these males were between the ages of 18-34. 29.58% has an income between $30, 000 and $59, 999, and 26.52% have an income between $60, 000 and $99, 999 respectively.

On a side note... Nielsen reported that 33% of
YouTubes users were over forty five.

If we only use Hitwise for statistical purposes, do any of these demographics resemble your target demographic?

Do you sell golf clubs, clothes, cars, video games, computers, timeshares, etc, etc? This demographic as a whole represents a huge amount of buying power - they are spenders.

The obvious question, how do you tap into this hungry market of buyers on YouTube and other video hosting sites?

Like the media of old is now doing today, you create media they are watching - online videos.

Most of the old school media outlets are now establishing a presence using video. You can now watch anything from Greys Anatomy to the Evening News online. Many of these media powerhouses have partnered with YouTube, Google Video and others to distribute their content.

Some of the YouTube partners include Reuters, BBC, SpikeTV, Capital Records, Warner Brothers Records to name just a few (and this is only on YouTube).

This is not a fad. Building brand awareness, selling products and marketing using video online will be common practice. It will only be a matter of time before it is mainstream and a required means of doing business.

In a few short years, you will be watching the YouTube Channel on your television. With your television remote - you will push a button and order the latest gizmo without leaving your chair or speaking with anyone (somewhat as you can do now with QVC).

The infrastructure for merging the television with web video is being put in place now. Make no mistake about it, it will happen.

Multi media is the future of the Internet, and the future is now.
