#1) Grab the attention of the reader.

#2) Get the reader interested in what you have to offer.

#3) Make your prospect desire the benefits so much that his or her mouth will water.

#4) Demand a call to action. Tell the prospect how to get your product immediately.

A sales letter as little as two pages can pull in a huge number of orders, if done correctly. For a high priced item, you'll want to have a sales letter longer than two pages. No matter how long you make a sales letter, it should do one thing, and that is sell! Don't expect that you will fully make a sale with a simple brochure or one page circular. You need to focus on making the complete sale through a sales letter. A brochure or one page circular should reinforce your sales letter, but not do the total selling.

There is a lot of talk about exactly how long a sales letter needs to be. Do you think people will really take the time to read a long sales letter? The answer to that question is absolutely yes! Different tests have been conducted over the years and show that longer sales letters out pull a shorter one. You don't need to be overly concerned with the length. Make sure the brochure or circular is printed in the highest quality, along with your letter. If your printed materials are poor in quality, and look cheap, you absolutely should not be using them. The only way a person has to judge you is by the quality of your printed materials, and the words you write to them.

Always include an order coupon with your sales letter. The coupon needs to be easy and simple to fill out by your customer. Sales could possibly be lost if the order coupon is difficult to fill out. Don't get too "fancy" when creating an order coupon. Just keep it simple and easy for your prospect to fill out and send in to you.
