On august 10, 1979 Yankee pop sensation Michael Jackson released his 5th music album named Off the Wall Michael Jackson. This album came after his critically acclaimed performance in the musical film The Wiz where Jackson had made comradeship with Quincy Jones who provided the music for the movie. Jones worked and co-produced the album along with Jackson. Jackson attempted to make this album sound one of the finest and different from "destiny" and so he joined hands with renowned music directors, singers and lyricists. Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Rod Temperton were the ones with whom Jackson worked. Michael Jackson wrote his first full length song as a grown up called "Don't Stop til You Get Enough" which became the no 1 hit single in USA. Rod Temperton wrote the title track and 2 singles "Rock with You" and "Burn This Disco Out" in sync with Jackson style of music which were major hits. Jones gave "She's out of my life" in the album which he had written three years back.

Prior to the release of the album, Jackson gathered positive response from several critics and song writers for his singing. Jackson won his first Grammy awards and this album had its 4 singles within the top 10 of the billboard hot hundred which was the 1st by a solo artist. Soon after the success of this album Michael Jackson was started being compared to Stevie wonder because of his amazing vocal abilities. He went on to get many awards for his solo album.

The success of this album made a bond between Jones and Jackson for the following 9 years. This album cemented Jackson's place as one of the best musical artist in the world and generated worldwide a totally new type of disco music which became a regular at the dance floors and soon Michael Jackson became a fan fave. It was re-released by Sony records in 2001 and after more than twenty years of its real release, it received excellent reply from the fans as well as the critics even in the 21st century for its eternal freshness. It was given a five star rating and simply managed to get into the top 500 albums of all time of rolling stone magazine at number 68.finally, in the year 2008 Off the Wall Michael Jackson earned a place into Grammy's hall of fame. The greatness of this album lies in its success of selling over 20 million copies till date all over the world.
