Tips For Writing A Memorable Wedding Toast

Bride Wedding ToastsTraditionally given by the best man, the wedding toast is a very significant part of the wedding celebration. An opportunity for loved ones to raise their glasses and bestow their most heartfelt wishes on the happy couple, the wedding toast can leave the the entire room without a dry eye or fall flat. Here are some tips on how you can write a sentimental and memorable wedding toast that will celebrate the couple in a beautiful way.

Wedding Toast Tips #1: Use Personal Anecdotes. Whether you are closer to the bride or the groom, chances are you have an arsenal of touching and personal anecdotes which reflect the loved one's unique personality. Add several personal anecdotes of the person's life to the wedding toast that will help those guests who don't know the person as well to understand why this couple is such a special part of your life. by listing an example or two of the bride or groom's unending generosity, support for friends or family or ability to look on the brighter side of life, you will add a personal and memorable touch to the wedding speech.

Wedding Toast Tips #2: Talk About The Bride Or Groom's Childhood. If you have known the bride or groom since childhood, be sure to include a memory or two from that special time of life. The wedding of a man and woman is the union of two lives that have already experienced a significant amount of living. Sharing a fond memory of the bride or groom when they were just beginning the journey of life will add a very sentimental touch to the wedding toast and give the guests a moment to remember the long path that brought them to this moment.

Wedding Toast Tips #3: Share The Experience Of When You First Met The Bride Or Groom. If you are the groom's brother, talk about the first time you met your brother's wife to be. Share your first impressions and how pleased you were that your sibling found someone as wonderful as her to share his life with. Talk about the many good times you all have enjoyed together and how you have come to love this new addition to the family.

Wedding Toast Tips #4: Thank The New Members Of The Family. Acknowledge the difference that the newest member of the family and his or her family has made. Let the wedding guests know how much the joining of the two families has enriched everyone's life and the joy it has brought. Mention specific family members by name and share a personal story or two of how the families are coming together to make one extended family.

Wedding Toast Tips #5: Be Funny, But Not Offensive Or Disrespectful. Keep in mind that this is a wedding, not a roast. It is perfectly appropriate to include several jokes in the wedding toast, but use good judgment. Remember that there will be guests of all ages at the wedding and what you may find amusing after a few glasses of champagne may offend some of those in attendance, including the bride and groom.
