Wheat Alternative Easier To Digest

Piles Relief the college years can be devastating on a young adult's diet. That is the 4-year period where many, including me, become accustomed to fast food and microwave dieting. It wreaked havoc on my digestive system. Then, during my early twenties when I got married and began having children, the pressure & stress from my deliveries was too much for my intestines to handle. they cried desperately for help in the form of constipation and hemorrhoids.

The suffering became too painful and irritating and I was led to the point of needing a hemorrhoidectomy. This outpatient surgery was worse in physical recovery than all four of my cesarean section surgeries combined. It was at this point I learned that all wheat is not created equal. During recovery from my hemorrhoidectomy, I was told to eat whole wheat to help make going to bathroom easier while I was healing "down there."

When Whole Wheat Isn't the Right Kind of Fiber for You

As it turned out, my body was storing all of that whole wheat, completely backing up my intestines, which lead to a diagnosis of chronic constipation - the very condition that put me here in the first place! I was told to consume more wheat but because my body doesn't digest wheat very well, I was actually prolonging my recovery period. I was also learning a valuable lesson for my future dietary needs. If you find that after consuming wheat you have trouble going to the bathroom, or have other symptoms such as bloating or irritability, schedule an appointment with a D.O. or M.D. to discuss possible intolerances and whether dietary changes are right for you.

Finding an Alternative to Whole Wheat

My recovery period took about two months. After that, I began to focus on other ways of getting fiber into my diet. I began consuming more leafy greens, oatmeal, beans, fruits and nuts. I stayed away from pastas and breads made exclusively with wheat. Still, about a year after my hemorrhoid surgery, I noticed symptoms of constipation resurfacing and I became worried about what lied ahead. Stress, lack of sleep, managing a home and small business, all of this appeared to be leading to a relapse. I had decided I would never go through another surgery like that one. I made an appointment with a doctor who suggested I begin taking Barlean's Flaxseed Oil . The oil of the flaxseed would gets things moving, so to speak, and I found that it was just what I needed.

Boosting Immune System and Sluggish DIgestion

Many times, life just gets in the way. When that happens, make a solid effort to address your poor diet, lack of exercise and weakened immunity to start feeling better. In addition to taking Barlean's Flaxseed Oil as needed, I also consume 1-2 ounces of gogi berry puree in the form of NingXia Red every day. This allows me to stay on top of my health should I slip up and enjoy a food that just doesn't agree with me. I also always keep a supplement of enzymes in my kitchen, to help break down foods that may negatively effect my digestion and I take those daily as needed. Knowing what I have experienced, especially the painful recovery of hemorrhoid surgery, makes me more conscious of what my family and I eat!
