The southern Alaska region is probably the best place in Alaska for fishing enthusiasts. You can also find salmon in abundance here as during summer they migrate to spawn. Some of the best fishing locations in Alaska are Cooper River, Lower Cook Inlet and the Bristol Bay. Other wonderful fishing spots include the areas near the western and arctic regions.

It is advisable that you carry both the freshwater and salt water fishing rods when going for a fishing vacation in Alaska. You must also equip yourself with innumerable flies, tackle, weights, lures, several types of fishing lines, net, compass, map and waders. Also, you must take with you a complete first aid kit and large quantity of drinking water. As for clothing, you must take with you all warm clothes as Alaska is a cold country. You can also include some fishing vests, hiking boots and sunglasses, and do not forget to keep the sunscreen and bug repellent with you.

Before you think of fishing always ensure you have the right type of fishing licenses so that you will not be in trouble later for breaking any rule.
