Florida Fishing Types Of Fishing

Applying For Florida Fishing License

Fishing in the State of Florida requires a license. This means that you can't just cast your line or get into a fishing boat. Certain rules apply. However, these laws are not too much of a hassle. Enjoying the waters of Florida is very much possible, both for hobby and professional fishers.

If you want to apply for a license, there are two types of Florida fishing license. The first type is the license for recreational fishers. Hobby and sports fishers belong to this group. The other type of fishing license is the commercial license. This is required if you intend to catch fish in large amount in Florida seas and then use your catch in a business.

It is quite easy to get the license you need. Applying for it isn't hard. These fishing licenses are required by the State so that it can regulate the fishing activities in the area. Keep in mind that Florida is one of the best tourism spots of the U.S. Of course, the government only wants to make sure that its rich marine life and beautiful beaches are well guarded. The funds obtained from the mandated fishing license requirement are used to protect and improve Florida waters.

The residents, local tourists, and foreign visitors of Florida have to apply for the license if ever they want to fish in the area. They are easily available from the office of the county tax collector. There are also subagents selling the license in the area so you don't have to go there directly. The subagents are the fishing equipment stores, sporting good shops, and almost any business establishment in Florida. If you're in the area, just ask a local where you can buy a fishing license. He would certainly know.

If you want, you can also buy a Florida fishing license over the internet. With just a few clicks of the mouse, the license will be delivered to you easily. So if you've got solid dates for your fishing vacation, you can just purchase a license online before heading on to your trip.

Freshwater and saltwater fishing may require different permits. If you want to fish both at Florida's seas and freshwater spots, you will need two separate permits. If you are not yet certain if you're headed to a sea or would be staying near the lake, it is best that you buy both fishing licenses over the internet.

There are prerequisites to be granted a Florida fishing license. First, you have to be over 16 years old. A license is need if you're going to use a private fishing boat. However, if you are going to rent one, the owner of the charter usually covers the license for you. As such, you need not to apply for the license separately. To be sure, ask the owner of the vessel prior to sailing on it.

Fishing over a bridge, on the shores, or from the land or pier doesn't require fishing license. But if you already applied for one, you might as well buy it. Think of it as your contribution to preserve the beautiful Florida shores.
