Plus is also has an air filtration option built in that has an efficiency rating of 40% in the ASHRAE 52-76 Dust Spot Test. You can upgrade it even further with an optional HEPA filter that boosts the efficiency rating to 99.97% on the DOP test. The unit runs relatively quiet and was designed for indoor use. Retailing for $1885 plus an additional $500 for the optional HEPA filter this unit is a bit pricey, but it will keep your home free of humidity, dust, and allergenic particles.

The Soleus CFM-40E gets some of the best user ratings for home dehumidifiers. It is compact and lightweight for easy movement at 31 pounds. It can operate at temperatures ranging from 36 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit. This dehumidifier is designed to work in a basement or apartment. It has a continuous water drainage port that allows automatic water draining from the collection tank instead of emptying it manually. Because the tank only holds 12.5 pints it has an auto-shutoff control to suspend dehumidifier operation when the tank fills. While it doesn't have any air filtering options like the Santa Fe RX dehumidifier it also costs much less at $225.

The Comfort-Aire WHD-130A Whole-House Dehumidifier can removing 130 pints of moisture per day under AHAM conditions and 260 pints per day at saturation. The nice thing about this dehumidifier is that it can be run as a standalone or tied into your central air conditioning. It is about 2 foot square so it does not need a lot of room to operate. It is designed to fit any size home up to 3000 square feet. It has a washable filter that slides out for easy access. It also has an optional wall mounted control unit that works like a much like a thermostat so that if the unit is installed with your central air conditioner you do not have to walk out it each time you want to turn it on or adjust the settings. This home dehumidifier will cost you $1400 without the optional wall control unit.

The Comfort-Aire 30 Pint Dehumidifier is designed to run in rooms up to 500 square feet. The unit has all the controls mounted on top and a front loading water bucket for easy access. It also supports continuous drainage through a hose. It sits on 4 heavy duty casters so it can be moved around the house as needed; such as in the living room during the day but in a bedroom at night. It will run in temperatures as low as 40 degrees and has multiple fan settings so that it can be run quietly. This unit costs $250.

The Aprilaire Dehumidifier Model 1750 needs to be tied into a central air conditioning system but it features an automatically moisture sensor so you never need to adjust the units settings. It sustains the optimal humidity level in your home and only runs when needed. It does have a control unit to override the automatic settings. It can remove to 90 pints of water per day at AHAM levels. This unit is designed to be low maintenance after it is installed. It also allows for localized control so you control moisture levels in a specific room or section of the house. This unit is $1275.
